What Easter means for Christians

Video summary

1. The reason we worship Jesus as God

Jesus favourite title for himself was the Son of Man, which refers to his his divinity. Jesus actually claimed to be God in the flesh! Such a claim requires considerable supernatural proof to be believed and the resurrection is that proof. It is the supreme reason Christians worship Jesus as God.

2. The reason we trust Jesus as Saviour

Jesus resurrection is the reason we trust in him as our Saviour. Have you ever heard that very famous sentence Jesus spoke not long before the crucifixion? He said, “the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” When Jesus said that his life was going to be given as a ransom, he was saying: “I’m going to pay the price for your wrong doing.” Imagine a judge in a court serving justice by issuing a financial penalty, but then stepping down from the bench and paying the penalty for the guilty party. That’s what Jesus said he was going to do on the cross. The resurrection proves that his death was doing just that: serving the sentence for our sin. That’s why Christians trust in Jesus as our saviour.
